About
Born 2004 in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxemburg, Daniel first picked up the trumpet at the age of 8. He had his first contact with music through his father, who played the trumpet and the tuba in the local wind orchestra from an early age. His early exposure to a wide range of music, and the playing styles connected to them, enabled him to develop his initial understanding of music, and planted the seed from which his own playing approach grew.
Daniel started by playing the classical trumpet in the Conservatory of Esch/ Alzette (LU) and had the chance to play in orchestras like the „Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg (OPL)“ and the Luxembourg Military Band. During this time Daniel won a few prizes, four gold medals at the "Concours Jeunes Solistes" and the "Emcy Prize 2018". He made his first steps in jazz in the class of Prof. Marc Harles which was a very formative time for him. He finished his classical degree in the class of Prof. Michel Berns and Prof. Guy Conter in 2022.
Daniel moved to Cologne, Germany, aged 16 to study at the „Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln“. He is grateful to be mentored by Prof. Andy Haderer and Matthias Bergmann. Since 2021 he is one of the four young musicians of the "WDR Composers Fellowship" with mentor Florian Ross, whereby he regularly works with the WDR Big Band.
In the past, he also had the honour of studying with Gábor Tarkövi, Laura Vukobratović, Wolfgang Guggenberger, Frits Damrow, Klaus Schuhwerk, Benny Brown, Marquis Hill, Nduduzo Makhatini to name a few.
In 2022 he released his debut record „Left On Scene“ under the label „Mons Records“.
Since 2022 Daniel is member of the „Orchestre National de Jazz France“ and the „JugendJazzOrchester NRW“.
Since 2023 he is member of the "BundesJazzOrchester, BuJazzO"
